Do you work on Dominator doors?

Yes. Dominator is one of the brands we work with, and it is one of the most common systems we are called out to across Auckland. We service and repair existing Dominator doors and openers, replace springs, cables and remotes, and supply new doors. You do not need to have bought the door from us. See our repair service →

What We Do

Dominator work we take on

Servicing

Annual servicing to keep the door balanced and quiet: springs, rollers, tracks and hinges checked, lubricated and adjusted.

Spring replacement

The most common failure on any garage door. Spring work is technician work, never DIY.

Remotes and keypads

Replacement remotes, reprogramming after a remote is lost, and wireless keypads for outside the door.

Opener repair and replacement

Motor not responding, door reversing, intermittent operation. We diagnose whether it is the opener or the door causing it.

New Dominator doors

Supply and install, sized and finished to your opening. See the full range →

Other brands too

We work across the common New Zealand systems, so a mixed setup is not a problem. See our openers →

FAQ

Common questions

How do I program a Dominator garage door remote control?
Most systems pair a new remote by pressing the learn button on the motor unit, then pressing the remote button within a few seconds until the light flashes. The exact sequence differs by model and the button is sometimes behind the light cover. If the remote pairs and then stops working, the motor's memory is usually full and needs clearing first, which also unpairs every other remote.
What is the most common problem with garage doors?
Broken springs, by a wide margin. Springs carry the door's weight through thousands of cycles and they fatigue. The usual signs are a door that feels suddenly heavy, lifts unevenly, or an opener that strains and reverses. Springs hold a lot of stored energy, so this is technician work rather than a DIY fix.
What is the average cost to install a new garage door?
A roller door is the most economical option, a steel sectional sits in the middle, and cedar, glass and architectural doors cost more again. We give you a firm figure after we measure, and the quote is fixed and itemised. For indicative market ranges by door type, see the Auckland garage door cost guide.
What is a one piece garage door?
A single rigid panel that tilts up and out as one piece, also called a tilt door. It swings outwards as it opens, so it needs clear space in front, but it needs less headroom inside than a sectional. Common on older Auckland houses. See tilt doors →
What is the standard door size for a double garage in New Zealand?
There is no single legal standard. Most New Zealand double garages are built around 4.8 to 5.1 metres wide and 2.1 metres high, and singles around 2.4 to 2.6 metres. Older houses vary a lot, so we measure the opening rather than work from a standard.
Should I grease the tracks on my Dominator door?
No. Grease collects grit and makes the rollers drag. Use a light silicone or garage-door lubricant on rollers, hinges and springs, and keep the tracks clean and dry rather than lubricated. This is part of an annual service.
